Position: Northern Trust- Senior Product

Job Overview:
Northern Trust began offering investment, performance measurement
and analytical services in 1977, and we were the first custodian
bank to offer a comprehensive investment performance product capable
of integrating US and non-US assets. Today, we provide services
worldwide to more than 550 institutional clients (29,000 portfolios),
accounting for more than US$2.8 Trillion in assets.
As Northern Trust continues to provide complex investment performance
and risk solutions to multiple client types across different locations,
a senior role exists within the IRAS Product team to support internal
consultants and clients with the implementation of new and existing
product offerings. The successful candidate will join a team of
10 product people in Chicago, 3 product people in London, and
3 product people in Bangalore.
This senior person will deliver a new, state of the art, web-based
Composite Management System to asset managers world-wide. They
also will work on adding new Risk and Performance features directly
in Excel via Data Direct. They will work with an external consultant
to evaluate various fixed income attribution models, test and
evaluate behavior in Excel, then write requirements and work with
systems to build the preferred fixed income attribution model.
They will work with clients globally on rolling out these products
as well.
Knowledge/Skills:
- A very strong numerical background, (Bachelors/MBA in Math,
Finance, Operations Research, Financial Engineering). CFA a
plus.
- A strong knowledge of fixed income markets and attribution
- At least 7 years of experience in investment performance measurement
achieved at an asset manager, custodian, investment consulting
firm or performance software house
- Proven track record of understanding and solving complex investment
performance and risk related solutions for fund managers or
clients
- Good communication both oral and written
- Good presentation skills
- PC literate - proficient in the use of Excel, Word. MS Project
& MS Visio would be a plus.
- Organizational and negotiation skills are needed to develop,
communicate and follow through on IRAS product initiatives
new strategies to introduce into the programs.
- Works well under pressure
- Self motivated and pro-active
- Ability to multi-task
Major Duties:
- Understand and solve complex investment performance issues
identified within the IRAS global business functions, by the
Product team or directly by clients
- Establish oneself as the local technical IRAS expert, providing
documentation and training material to IRAS partners and supporting
consultants in client meetings or sales staff in new client
presentations.
- Research competitors' and systems' service offerings in performance
and risk analysis and provide management with regular updates
and reports on where Northern Trust is positioned strategically.
- Prepare written documentation to support new product initiative
goals with justification for project expenditures.
- Work closely with systems partners to help build solid technical
solutions for our clients
- Provide regular status reports to management highlighting
any successes/challenges
- Represent Northern Trust in investment performance related
conferences
