Position: Nationwide Investment Management
Group - Asset Strategies Director - columbus, OH and King of Prussia,
PA
Job Overview:
Provides expert analysis and recommendations for the creation,
implementation and monitoring, of asset allocation programs across
all business lines at Nationwide Financial. Analyzes potential
new investment strategies for inclusion in existing asset allocation
programs and collaborates with Manager Strategies team to assess
their potential. Collaborates with independent financial experts
that serve as consultants to Nationwide Financial and with internal
NF constituents including distribution, marketing, manager oversight,
legal and compliance. Prepares presentations to various audiences
on the asset allocation programs. Manages, if requested, one or
more members of Asset Strategies team.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assists AVP in leading development efforts of new asset allocation
programs and of
enhancements to existing programs.
- Assists AVP in leading review of construction of multi-manager
products to ensure
optimization of allocations to the selected managers.
- Recommends addition or removal of asset classes within programs.
Monitors
performance and other quantitative and qualitative characteristics
of existing
funds/managers within the programs.
- Reviews, on a regular basis, investment performance reports,
securities holdings and
other information received or requested on specific investment
portfolios.
- Assesses the interrelationships among various types of investments
with a view to
enhancing existing products or creating new ones.
- Makes carefully constructed recommendations, based on investment
experience and
market knowledge, for the development of investment strategies
within the programs.
Maintains and updates strategies when necessary.
- Serves as a subject matter expert in conducting fund analysis,
evaluating marketplace
trends, and tracking peer groups for the programs.
- Reviews industry trends to identify and monitor investment
managers/funds for potential
new strategies to introduce into the programs.
- Assists Product Strategies in the development of new asset
allocation products.
- Communicates with the respective distribution channels to
determine specific investment option requirements.
- Represents the business segment to Marketing when developing
investment related sales collateral, brochures, etc.
- Assists in the management of relationships with IFEs (i.e.,
Ibbotson, Wilshire).
- Assists Manager Strategies as needed with on-site investment
due diligence of current and potential investment managers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Undergraduate studies in business, finance, economics,
accounting or a related field. Graduate studies preferred.
License/Certifications: CFA / CFP certification preferred.
Experience: 10 years related experience in Financial Services
investment management.
Knowledge: Expert knowledge of investment products, especially
mutual funds and variable annuities, and distribution strategies
are essential. Understanding of MPT concepts and portfolio construction
preferred.
Skills/Competencies: The successful candidate will possess strong
quantitative skills and an excruciating attention to detail. Communication
skills are of paramount importance. Experience working with various
industry databases and software tools is essential. Successful
experience in managing others is preferred, though not essential.

JOB CONDITIONS:
Overtime Eligibility: Not Eligible (Exempt).
Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Extended work hours
may be required based on workload. Likely to require some travel
(10-20%).
